How do you cut hair layers?Read to get full details.?

I want to make the top layer shorter so can make it bigger and come out more.How can i cut it myself with out messing my hair up and looking like crap.Is kinda a layer/texture cut that i want,but i dont feel like spending my money i saved on a haircut i probably wont like.Help?



Id prefer answers from people that are experianced with hair.

well, coming from a beautician, and one that cut her hair for years, this should hopefully help you. if you hold your hair at a 45 degree angle out from your crown, and following all around, that will create more dramatic more layered effects. it will appear 'stacked' and is pretty easy to achieve. go by feel and it should turn out well. this angle will also help create fullness, which is what i assume you mean by come out more? and there's always cost effective places to get your hair done should you want to. most cities have beauty schools with great rates, or even ladies nights where you could go get a fantastic rate. i hope that helps!
